Loving it

« There is always something ridiculous about the emotions of people whom one has ceased to love. Sybil can’t seemed to hum to be absurdly melodramatic. Her tears and sobs annoyed him. »
I have been in the same situations as Sybil and as Dorian in my life. It is interesting to see that despite 130 years passing since this novel was written, human relationships and emotions are still the same.

- I was wrong… two female characters are introduced (sibyl - love interest- and her mother ). Whilst these women are introduced in respect to Dorian, I appreciate having them in the novel.
- very interesting to see the halo effect in this context (sibyl and her mother assume the best of Dorian -despite not knowing his name- simply because of his good looks )
- cool fact: sibyl’s brother is going to Melbourne!!!

- i love the writing style of the book (which is much more descriptive than modern books)
- i hate the way the characters discuss women (only placing value on superficial elements such as beauty and showing zero interest in what they actually have to say)
- no female character / the book doesn’t pass the bechdel test at all
