girl holy f’ing shit how was i supposed to have any idea who this dead man was holy crap

i think i’m way more confused than i’m supposed to be. i thought this series was a standalone and i think you theoretically are supposed to be able to read it without having read shades of magic, but i have NO idea what anyone is talking about. i think i will have to read shades of magic and then come back to this.
