This is the first English novel I’ve read about my own culture. It’s crazy how much I’ve subconsciously absorbed myself in Western culture that ever since immigrating here at 8 (just barely able to read or spell lol) I’ve completely been detached from my home country. This book is a start into learning more about present day Philippines—its social/political issues, and most importantly, my people.
