carthoris and the imaginary man are captured and escape the green men. Thuvia is saved by Duras red men and is told she will be killed as to not start a war with the other cities of red men. Carthoris gets the Tharth people to help rescue their princess and Carthoris saves thuvia. They declare their love for each other, her fiancee hears and agrees to break their engagement so she can be with Carthoris.

carthoris and thuvia make it to a deserted city where the inhabitants use telepathy to survive and fight. Thuvia is taken by the Jedak because there are no more women. Cathoris is befriended by a man named Java who is more reasonable. Thuvia kills the Jedak, they escape with java but he kidnaps her next. she kills him and carthoris comes after her. he meets a man who was formerly imagined a tribe of green men attack

Thuvia of Tarth is being pursued by 2 men, one who is aggressive from a neighboring settlement of Reds, the other is Carthoris. he stated his desire for her but she is promised to another by her father. Thuvia is kidnapped and Carthoris is the prime suspect but he is innocent and goes to find her but is sabotaged along the way. He finds her and try to make their escape home but are hitting some road blocks.
