i’m curious to see y’all’s responses
what makes people take a hiatus from goodreads? i’ve only ever had good experiences with the app, it’s a great substitute if you do not have social media.
but what have been y’all’s experiences (positive or negative)?

For me, it can get overwhelming. I feel like I have to always be reading or always be commenting on reviews. I love to do both, but sometimes I just don't feel like doing either, so I have to take a step back and realize that this isn't a job; it's a hobby. It's supposed to be a fun experience, not a stressful one. That's my reason ☺️

me personally ive expierenced some drama on the app and had to step away, but other times im just busy and wont be on my phone much! :)
A couple months ago there was a LOT of drama and craziness with politics, this platform is supposed to be pro-free speech, however, people don't really exercise it. I'm kinda taking a hiatus right now, but its because I forget to log on, and my life is too crazy to remember to keep up LOL
a lot of people take hiatus for exam seasons and general life crazinesses. theres pressure to online a lot so when people dont have time for that they just cut GR off entirely. there was also a lot of drama last year/summer for both politics and some other nonsense where people made fake catfishing accountsa lot of ppl felt unsafe and left
gotcha!! i can totally see why, bc lowkey finals and AP exams are coming near so maybe i should take a hiatus too 😭
