while vis is a fairly flat character, the world building is excellent as it mirrors some of today’s sociopolitical dynamics, thus making a pretty solid commentary on the concept of “meritocracy” and how a society running on promises (e.g. american dream) is truly just a false narrative to keep the impoverished populace from opposing systems in place & the ? of who determines who has “merit”
