Prof Nayder is very knowledgable if not very entertaining. The drawings are from the period and that helps. The last chapter on the London he visited, lived in and saw daily was one of the best of the series.
There are many more novels stories and treasures from CD.

She compares bram stokers dracula to a reverse immigration ,? the foreigner coming to London rather than the Englishman going abroad. I think of it as immigration. But amyway, a fair amount of commenyary in his novels te the plight of the Indian, African, asian coming from across the empire to London.

Sublime wilderness, the Victorian idea of green spaces were likened to lungs - breathing places, lending health and rejuvenation.

It is hard to keep up with all the book/ story/novel references. You have to know all dickens stories to understand and place the character she speaks of but tying his writing to London of that Era is working and very enlightening.
