I find I wax and wane with this book. I relish Brown's recollections of academia and scholarly debates, and the unfolding of his own ideas through engaging with the ideas of other scholars. But for whatever reason, every time I pick it up, I only get so far before my enthusiasm runs out of steam. Oh well: I'm going to shelve it again for now, and reading the book will just be a long-term project!
