- Essentially, what we have here is a compilation of a compilation.
(2) This is one of those trades that I don't really have any motivation to read, I just need to get it done.
- Frankly, I stopped caring after Sophie Campbell took over the series.

(1) The "Opening Moves" issues are all about Shredder and Kitsune changing into spirit form and mining memories of Rat King's would-be allies for their own allies.
- It's literally "the enemy of my enemy is my friend."
- I guess the "opening move" is research.
(2) Apparently, "Armageddon Game" is a chess term.
- Explains all the chess analogies, themes and symbolism.

(1) One thing made crystal-clear from reading the 2020 and 2021 Annuals back-to-back is the disparity in quality.
- I don't know what changed in that year (coronavirus aside) but everything from story to art to pacing to sheer utility and information conveyed takes a nosedive.
(2) Notably, the Turtles don't appear in either issue, apart from reminiscences about them.

(1) You know, this is at least the third time I've read the prelude and issue #84. Not nearly as many times as I've had to read "Batman #17," but enough to be tiresome.
- Hopefully, I'm done with it for good, or at least until the time comes, if ever, that I decide to re-read the whole series.
