In Christchurch now going to Wellington in the morning. So far NZ is one of the 3 most beautiful countries I have visited so I'm looking forward to the long ferry ride. What is there to do in Wellington apart from the museum and (later) Rotorua where might we find Maori stuff.Ever since I was a little girl in Wales and the All Blacks came to play rugby they've really intrigued me. Thanks for all the help on Melbourne.

Negin So happy for you, Petra! I've heard that NZ is amazing. Which are the other two countries that are in your top 3?

Taveri Yes I'm curious as well - what are the other two?

Taveri If you could get to Lake Taupo, there is an immense Maori Rock Art Carving, only visible from the water. Have a look on Google maps, north end of the lake.

For beautiful land, but not wild, Bali, and for beautiful seascapes, the British Virgin Islands.

Going tomorrow, just booked the bus down. We will stay for a couple of days as I want to see the glass sculpture garden (I used to be a glass artist), and will definitely look for the Rock Art. Got any other recommendations?

We are in Taupo now, for a few days, then off to Rotorua and Te Puia. Got any recommendations, especially of Maori experiences that are part of huge (2-300 people) tourist groups?

John Gilbert Beautiful country indeed, loved visiting there and met my wife on a trek there 38 years ago. Magical, enjoy Petra.

I think it might have changed a bit since then, but perhaps less than most countries with tourists.
