Ugh. I swear every FMC in this series has a depressing and rage-inducing backstory. I really can't stand damsel in distress, and this series has that in spades. I hope I'm wrong, but I have a gut feeling this would be a rinse and repeat of prior books. 🤷♀️ But what does it say about me that I keep reading, hoping for something different??

I think a lot of her books have the sad FMC background, not just this series. Hope it isn’t disappointing for you!

I haven't read this new series of hers though so maybe her newer stuff isn't ALL like that.

As far as I can remember, that's the same situation experienced by all the FMCs in this series. They have an awful backstory that continues into the present time, and everything will change for them once the MMCs come into the picture. I guess it's not so different after all. 🙃
Ugh, just read a series similar to this and HATED it! I should've DNFed but couldn't bring myself to do so
