It does seem to me that Davenport’s admiration of Pound (the poet) makes him maybe a bit too much of an apologist for Pound (the man). I like the Cantos as much as the next guy with a masters in comp lit but cmon. Seems to fall into the same trap Kenner often did, which is apparently seeing Pound’s very real fascism as unworthy of material identification
