"Sixty-two days” He grins. It's so bright that it sends an ache straight through my chest.
"You've been counting?" I ask softly.
"Good things don't happen to men like me," he starts while holding my gaze. "So when a good thing like you comes into my life, you bet your ass I'm counting the days"

"Do you love me?" He whispers, keeping his eyes on mine.
Even if I try to deny it, I can't lie to him. My feelings for him are written in everything I do.
"More than you know"
"Ask me" he says breathlessly, sliding his hands to frame my face.
"Do you love me?" I whisper back without hesitation.
The corners of his mouth curve upwards again, lighting that small fire in my belly.
"More than you know" he rasps.

I’m a grown man. Grown men don’t get giddy. But if that is the case, why does it feel like a seventy five degree sunshiny day every time I look at her? Why does seeing the flecks of gold in her green eyes make me feel like I’m the richest man on earth or the way her laugh makes me feel the same as when I’m flying down an empty highway with nothing but my bike and the feeling of her arms wrapped around me.

"Why did you do it? Why not just leave me?” I beg.
‏Her lips part trying to say something, and finally, with a pained breath, she says the words that completely crumble what little resolve I have left. “Because it’s us–against the world"
