I checked it out from the library, but never picked it up for a suspicion like yours. What is the flavor of the writing like?

very much that sort of first person, macho, self-mythologizing, borderline porn fantasy stuff. The prose itself is nothing exciting, and the drinking and sex is just not that interesting or entertaining. I kind of got the point in the first 5 pages and it doesn't seem to be doing much more
