If you have not seen "In the Earth" by Ben Wheatley, it's an eccentric and exciting film about another piece of land where a fungus lives.

I have seen that! Though I adore Wheatley, I wish there was a stronger payoff in the film. There are some thematically similar films from roughly the same period: GAIA. the Laird Barron adaptation THEY REMAIN, and WITHOUT NAME. I quite liked WITHOUT NAME which has some strong Algernon Blackwood vibes, but of the four GAIA was my favorite.
