In my opinion, I’ve only read the fourth book beyond the original Inheritance Games trilogy, and I don’t think it’s as important. The main mystery was already solved in the first three books, so whatever happens afterward—at least in the fourth book—feels more like a character-focused novella. It reads more like a thriller that explores the pasts of Grayson, Jameson, and the other Hawthorne brothers, rather than continuing Avery’s story(there’s still mystery involved). Since Avery was the main character and the driving force of the original trilogy, the shift in focus makes the fourth book feel less essential. Was it fun to read? Yes—especially after missing the characters for so long, it was nice to get more content about them. But overall, it doesn’t feel necessary to the main plot. I haven’t read the fifth book yet, so I can’t speak to that one.
