The text was enlightening, though I don't know how much of it would be news to anyone who has ever paid attention to geopolitics before.

The maps, on the other hand, are hopeless. Maybe it's just a limitation of the mass-market paperback format but they did a poor job of illustrating the features and border disputes described in the text. More annotations on more maps needed.
