Very strange story. A man sells his sole to the devil at the cross roads. There are conditions, and his wife will be restored. Wild goose chase, but he makes it in the end and finishes at the cross roads. I have been to the Cross Roads in Mississipi. Nothing to write home about, but fitting for this story. Mostly, lots of snarky swiping at evil, the supernatural, heaven, hell, crime, etc.

I'm not sold on the characters or the plot, yet. The writing style reminds me of the cynicism of Terry Pratchett, just harder hitting.
