Endou and the protagonist had a talk

these guys hate themselves so much for so many different reasons. thinking that getting a girlfriend is the only way to happiness, hate seeing couples together because they can't get into a relationship. it's really sad

Ido is always angry at the world. He has so much hatred inside of him his philosopher seems like "If everyone is unhappy, I'll be happy by comparison." p.132
He also brings up sex when making analogies and feels deep shame because of it.

What got me was when they realized they've been talking about the same shit for 5 years. Fighting in a war that they have no clue what the point is

Gets chased by 4 guys bc he threw a potted plant at them thinking that they were out to get him (delusional)

Our protagonist gets saved by Endou who shows him a film of Mizuo and questions him on her relationship with the Tower of The Sun

Our protagonist used to bring Mizuo on dates to historical places and she became facinated with the tower

He comes back to his apartment infested with cockroaches

shikama is making up stories about random girls that he sees

"fantasies like this defined us. Shikama and i were battered and beaten, our minds subjected to countless days of voluntary, self-generated abuse. Together we lamented the abominable state of the modern world, rotten to its very core. Though in truth, I at times had to admit some confusion as to whether it was the world that had rotten ourselves" p.76
