"But Gabrel, do not do it.”
“Do not do what?” Gabrel gently asked.
She turned to him, catching his gaze. “Do not lie to the people you love. Do not presume to think that deception can protect them. Lies do not protect us from danger. They make it so that we cannot see the danger until it is already upon us."

Thank you for giving them a go! I'm so, so glad (and honored) that you're enjoying them!
Honestly, this is such a tricky question to answer. Every child is different, and every family is different. I'm reading these first two books aloud to my almost-nine-year-old (while skipping a sentence or paragraph here and there when it comes to more romantic thoughts/moments), but I told him early on that it would be hard to read him the whole series right now. There are some things, especially in the last two books, that seem a little intense for younger readers. Generally, I would think about 12+?? But again, it's hard, as it all depends on a child's (and family's) sensitivities.

For instance, the whole climax of Vassal (or rather, the concept behind the climax... lol I'm trying to be careful what I say to avoid spoilers for people who may see this), could be really scary/disturbing for some young people and not a problem at all for others.
Ah, yes I know what you are talking about! Thank you for this thoughtful reply! I saw your update about reading it aloud and thought that sounds so fun to be able to read your own book aloud (especially this series has been so fun and exciting and insightful)!
This series is one I will definitely be sharing with my kids when they are a little bit older!
