Found the first few chapters quite challenging; there’s lots of dates, places and people which I struggle to grasp.
I’ve felt frustrated with so much background, however the most recent chapter on Pythagoras has felt like a breakthrough, making me excited to read on.

Last days of holiday so crammed loads of reading. Cynics/Sceptics and Stoics have definitely been the most interesting so far, will definitely be reading into them more. Now the slog of the dark ages… (maybe i’ll be suprised)

Slowly trudging through. I definitely feel i have a better understanding of plato / socrates and the context surrounding them. Just desperate to get into new topics now like the stoics…

Part I finished, not a grilling start but has definitely set scene nicely. Few interesting characters and ideas touched on, but most are just expanded on more comprehensively later in the book. Definitely looking forward to reading into Part II
