Jayson’s Reviews > Green Lanterns, Vol. 9: Evil's Might > Status Update

Jayson
Jayson is on page 53 of 187

Notes:
(1) These first issues feel like middle parts of a long and muddled story arc.
- Which, for all I know, it may actually be. Editor's notes here mention how it takes place after certain events in "Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps."
(2) This definitely feels like a Jurgens' book, and that's no compliment.
- There's no sense of direction and it's stiflingly dense.

Jayson’s Previous Updates

Jayson
Jayson is on page 179 of 187

Notes:
(1) After Sam Humphries went through all that trouble having Batman shame Simon into giving up his guns in an emotional struggle session, Dan Jurgens has Simon realize that giving up guns was a big mistake.
- It's pretty much a repudiation of Humphries decision to change the character.
- That and separating Simon and Jessica are the only real takeaways from this arc.

Jayson
Jayson is on page 115 of 187

Notes:
(1) These middle issues have been almost all action.
- Which is a slight improvement, since there's no having to makes sense of this very convoluted plot.
(2) The big villain is revealed, and while it seemingly comes out of nowhere, this is Dan Jurgens writing a Green Lantern story, so through that lens it makes perfect sense.
- Comic writers have personal fallbacks.

Notes:
(1) Whenever I see Dan Jurgen's name on a book, I pretty much know what I'm in for. In general, he's competent if unexciting.
- A lot of it depends on the artist and how they translate his writing.
- The problem is that unless he's writing Superman, the odds of seeing top-tier art on one of his books is close to nil. He's usually assigned C-level books like this one.
