this really mirrors time management for mortals where the author writes that there are so many choices you can make and sometimes that can feel overwhelming and you have fomo on your other choices but the fact that you chose to make the choice you did gives that choice meaning

ooo and now you can see his mindset veering closer to jason2’s rationale/perspective

“and maybe i can let go of the sting and resentment of the path not taken, because the path not taken isn’t just the inverse of who i am. it’s an infinitely branching system that represents all the permutations of my life between the extremes”

hmm that’s an interesting question: are we solely defined by the choices we make or is there a foundational “me” that is constant no matter what choices we make? (i think this opens the “free will and fate” can of worms which i cannot fathom rn)

okay what i meant w the diff settings is that there’s enough variety to keep a reader w a short attention span (me) hooked like that last try w the pandemic was such a page turner

1) wow the box is such a convenient plot tool to change the setting/communicate character emotions
2) okay it feels like the protagonist has a lil bit of plot armor in that he figured out how to find the box in the snow so fast but also he’s a genius so like fine ig
3) i always think about the fact that timers and countdowns are such good tools to move the plot along so the watch and ampoule counts are a nice touch
