The story is progressing slowly, but the best part is in the background. David Brin's brilliant imagination brings into existence a view of humanity's future that is so plausible... The things he describes can be traced to roots we can already see now. One fascinating example is how a journalist of the future employs AI to filter and analyze rumors and assign a credibility score, or summarize a live comment feed.
