Coen was essentially deposed from his position as leader of the Enlightenment Next moment. His former followers accused him of psychological manipulation, emotional abuse, and authoritarian control. Unlike many of his contemporaries. There were no allegations of sexual misconduct. But the other abuses must have been bad. Because powerful men (particularly back then) could (and still can) basically get away with just about anything.
