Marina Yurievna! Sergey Sergeievich! If you don't make this dragon end up with this princess, I'm going to be very, very disappointed and very, very cross.
I mean, the maiden saves the dragon? He's now honour-bound to eat her. (. . . figuratively speaking, you perverts!). These are the fairy tale rules.
Can you tell I'm having a great time with this quirky story yet?

That prince vs dragon was the most absurd and hilarious duel I've read. It's reminding me why this used to be my favourite fairy tale trope in the past.
I'm rooting for the dragon this time. I'm betting 100 quid on you, Armand. Go at 'im! Sock 'im! Rock 'im! Burn 'im!

This is patching up my soul beautifully! I'm loving the weird take on this trope.
Please, don't add a love triangle with Austin.
Please, don't change the dragon.
Please, don't make Yuta different.
If all goes well, this may end up my favourite or one of my favourites from all the Dyachenkos' books. Just don't ruin it, please, Mrs Marina, ma'am! Please don't ruin it, Mr Sergey, sir! No... Love... Triangle...
Amen.

From the opening chapter, I'm already amused by this dragon who refuses to eat princesses (haha) and the princesses being such a contrast of personalities. I wonder which one will be the sacrifice? My fave so far is Yuta.
In Marina & Sergey Dyachenko we trust. If anyone can give me an anti-fairy tale that is somehow a fairy tale, it's them. If this works out, I'll ask the Ns to adopt me for the bragging rights.

Ok, I am pretty sure I have seen the movie adaptation of this! Maybe? It was titled "I Am Dragon"

There's a film based on this, I haven't watched it so I can't compare to the book (which isn't translated into English yet). I found about the film when I was desperately looking for a copy of the book, but it isn't available officially in my end, so I only saw shorts of it on YouTube.
I can't remember where I managed to watch it, but I quite liked it - beautiful, picture-wise, but also pretty nice in terms of layers of meaning re: coming of age, sexuality, etc. It's been a while but I quite liked it when I saw it!
Rebecca wrote: "Drat. I was hoping this book was translated because it sounds fun. What language is it?"Not for you, no. I wouldn't recommend this one to you, you have different tastes.
It's in Ukrainian.

So far, it's going well.

Alexandra wrote: "Fingers crossed, I hope it will continue to be good!"It better be, I won't survive another dud. :'(
Isn't this by the same author as Vita Nostra? I need to finish that one. Don't have the brain power for it right now though.
Rebecca wrote: "Isn't this by the same author as Vita Nostra?"Authors, plural. And yes, they're the same.
