Aelin, who travels to Wendlyn and stays at some kind of academy where she meets Rowan - say what you will, something will happen between them at some point... and how the story comes to a head there, wow! And then there's Manon's story, which I'm still struggling a little with because I haven't got the hang of it yet.

The world building in the third part was even better than in the previous parts. Now that the world has been opened up, three stories are being told simultaneously. Chaol and Dorian, who remain in Rifthold, where new characters like Sorsha and Aedion are introduced, both of whom I found very interesting and whose plot twists really surprised me.
