I’m coming to the conclusion that reading silent spring without reading any of Carson’s previous work takes away some of the book’s power. Because compared to her sea trilogy, this is SO different. Imagine if Robin Wall Kimmerer published a scathing indictment of the agriculture industry and didn’t pull any punches

now that I’ve read so much of her other work, this book is such a striking difference in tone. you can feel the urgency, and you can hear her deep love for the natural world — and her pain and fury at its destruction.
