I could have quite happily have lived my life not knowing that teen Claire threw her gran's cats over a first floor balcony just to see if they really would land on their feet, or that as an adult she would see no problem in putting that in writing.

Her dad is still coming across very badly

Wow. Her dad sounds like an absolute bell end.

I chose this because I really like Clare Balding, I can't say I knew anything about her background, but so far it's all horses and dogs. Horses bore me rigid and I'm not keen on dogs.

Fingers crossed she will move to London and get a cat in the next chapter.
