I’m keep taking breaks because of the overwhelmingly detailed depictions of emergency personnel being unable to identify their friends, neighbors, and loved ones among each of the mass burn victims as they were rushed into in their under-equipped rural hospital ER. It’s a gut-wrenchingly hard read, but at the same time it’s somehow uplifting story of how a community rallied together in a time of absolute catastrophe.
