why is syl every other time being referenced as a „ribbon of light“? sometimes twice in like 2 sentences apart.
I’m wondering if it is supposed to be foreshadowing or if Sanderson just thought this was a good visualisation and doesn’t have any other way of explaining it 🥲

some chapters are just ridiculously long 😩

i feel kind of weird while reading this because I like it, especially compared to a lot of other fantasy books. At the same time it feels really formulaic, some chapters feel like they were quickly written to get done with it. Especially Kaladin ones resort to tell instead of show using Syl as his thought processor. comes off as lazy and less enjoyable but at the same time who would want an even longer book.

reading these types of huge fantasy books is always a challenge at the start but each book gets so much better and the characters are feeling so real. it’s really enjoyable and i’m curious what’s going to happen 🥹
