Leviticus is a book where the people of God are given the mission of being set apart. Within its 27 chapters, we see the offerings God demands from his people, rules for the priests, rules governing uncleanness and purity, rules governing the Day of Atonement, and other lists of rules and ceremonies. The book is written almost entirely in the imperative! We see a picture of the good life in a good society.

The book of Numbers tells the story of Israel’s journey from Mount Sinai to Canaan, spanning 40 years of wilderness wandering. It mixes narrative, census records, laws, and instructions for how a just society was to function in the Promised Land. Through the experiences of real individuals, we encounter the continuous tension between the impulse toward godly behavior and lapses into human waywardness.

Exodus was fast paced beginning with Moses’ birth, Moses’ committing murder and fleeing Egypt to his relocation in Midian, Moses’ leadership assignment from God to his return to Egypt, the ten plagues which ended with Israel’s exodus from Egypt, Gods guiding provision in the wilderness coupled with Israel’s grumbling, Israel’s great sin and the Ten Commandments, and finally God’s particular directions.
