message 1: by Robert (new)

Robert Defrank In retrospect, I personally found this book the highest point in the series. Five and six had their moments in between long, long stretches of tedium, and none of the books after six are worth reading in my opinion, but this was the last consistently good book with a genuine sense of wonder.

To be honest I'm struggling with the series even this far in. There are some brilliant sections that are thrilling to read and then there is tedium upon tedium....
