the thing nobody tells you about middlemarch is it’s the greatest novel ever written because that’s something you really can’t put into words until you read it

like the best i can get in summarizing it is “it makes jane austen look like dime novel genre fiction” and i love jane

“i don’t see how a man could be good for much unless he has one woman to love him dearly”
“i think the goodness should come before he expects that”

we are one book in and i can not wait to see the rest of this story that seems like it’s gonna be “jane austen romance ends in disillusioned divorce”
