So, I think I like this way more than I did before. I think it's really interesting, entertaining and also sad. Caralee is an honest, genuine protagonist and not at all hard to root for. Getting to see Dell and her interact a bit more was also a welcome change.

It takes a while to get there, yes
Also, the focus is way more on “how much does the world change who I am?” and “how do we respond to f-d up power structures?” than anything romantic-relationship-based.

I will say again that not much has changed, the author gives a lot of focus to her relationship with the abusive man she loved more than anything sapphic related, so far.
