Holy shit this should be classified as a thriller locked in with a psychopath- and I mean this in the best way. As someone who is trapped in a relationship with an incredibly needy, infantile man, this book is positively a spot on terrifying glimpse of what it is like to live with someone like that.

pg 167 “ Peter laughed like it was the funniest thing he’d ever heard. “They’re not all Ethan. You’re all lost. You’ve always been lost, and that’s the most you’ll ever be.” 😰

This book positively excels at leaning into the original book’s portrayal of Peter as abusive, horribly childish, and psychopathic

Great short first chapter. In such a small amount of words, it is really cool how much set up there is. I also really appreciate that for readers who don’t understand how half or step siblings work, all of the characters relations are explained in a way that never comes off as instructional or exposition, but uses the established voice to great affect.
