I'm continuing to make slow but steady progress. Some very stark passages of aspects that weren't emphasized in high school history classes (I'm 50+) or in ca. 45 min. TV shorts, is that not every German in 1933 bowed to Hitler's will, especially citizen members of non-nationalist political parties. I understand more now how Hitler & SS first benefitted from SA tactics, then institutionalized terror/death with camps.

I'm wondering about this guy. What more is to be said about Hitler? I've read three bios in the past 20 years and wonder if there is any point in going further with it. Thoughts?

Thoughts?"That's a fair question, but I'm likely not the best to answer it as this is the first book that I have read that's specifically about Hitler. I'm appreciating the details in chronological narrative, no jumping back or forward unless briefly out of necessity. The author tends to stick to the written record and cautions about popular conjecture regarding Hitler's heritage, sexuality, and even motives. However, as I recall, I read some reviews where Goodreads readers questioned the reliabily of Hess' journals - those wrote while he was in prison. The author doesnt over rely on thoseband I havent read anything in this book that to my knowledge, has been far fetched.
I'll summarize by stating that the author paints a chronological and logical picture of Hitler from what those in Hitler's social and political circles wrote and said about him. I believe it's a very reliable and informative text. Thank you for your question. I'm curious to read moee about what you have read about Hitler.
Ahh well I am a lifelong WW2 junkie so I've seen a bucket load of Hitler material. I've read Bullock's, Toland's and Kershaw's bios on him plus bios of most of the biggies in the 3rd Reich hierarchy. I'm very high on Ron Rosenbaum's Explaining Hitler. And of course he pops up in all the battlefield stuff I've read through the decades but there's always a bit of mystery around him even after all that because he could twist in so many directions, up until Stalingrad and then he was a straight arrow after that. Thanks for answering .... Another H bio is a hefty commitment in time.
