V.E. Schwab writes different time periods so effortlessly it’s as if she has lived them herself. It is truly remarkable. I’m reading Maria’s chapters like “yeah this is exactly how 1500s spain was” despite knowing nothing about it, purely because I just feels so natural and authentic lol.
