I had imagined something akin to Redwall or Wind in the Willows and I am getting: the consuming in infants (they’re chickens but still in this world they’re sentient), criminal nut-stealing squirrels rotting in gibbets, lots of blood and lying and tricking, heads on spikes (not real ones…maybe?) and a bear forcibly tonsured. I’m having a good time
