Ok, WTF... Yes, it did manage to surprise me with the target. But its completely out of left field.
The author can likely justify or explain it in the last 20%, but honestly I no longer care.

Sigh... Another instance of secrets screwing everything up.
And more sneering.
And at least someone should have recognized the child's obvious lie...
I certainly hope I finish this book soon.

I'm going to do a word count after finishing (if I remember) to see how many times the author said someone "sneered".

Also, while I understand needing someone with an emergency override, wouldn't it make more sense to simply have a time lock?

Well, I certainly didn't expect that cause, but I guess I should have.
That being said, I dont actually think he wants the girl... I think he's after the MC.

Hooray! Male MC has realized they are doing everything wrong!
I did a quick google of Ixaal but didn't find anything, though at least the character recognizes the name!
I did find a few similar sounding things... I'll be curious to learn if it was a name mistake by the author or if it was something she just made up. (Or if my googling in fact failed me)

I don't think "sneered" means what the author thinks it means... unless it has a different meaning "over the pond"?

Finally picked this up again.
It's still full of questions... but I'll hope they are answered at the end.
(And unfortunately I remember very little about it)

The one thing this excels at so far is being confusing. Seeing as how its told from the perspective of someone with amnesia that makes sense. I would expect more clues as to what is going on though.

I'm a third of the way done, I should have some sort of theories by now... I just have a couple random guesses.

Story summary: the brains of an exorcist operation gets amnesia and the priest is dead, but they have to defeat the entity anyway.

For some reason I felt strongly enough about this book to flag it as the next one to read. So far it seems interesting but I'm not sure it deserved to cut in line....
