I guess it should’ve never surprised me that, of course, we weren’t ever proud of being a “melting pot”. The memory of immigration at Ellis and Angel island have been spit-shined, we were just as horrendous then as we are now. Chinese immigrants, eastern and southern European immigrants, etc. were imprisoned.
Question everything you’ve been taught that makes us look mildly compassionate.
