Paul and James use the terms “faith” and “works” in different ways… Paul speaks of Christian faith (trust in Christ) and Jewish works (obeying the law so as to justify oneself), while here James deals with Jewish faith (pure monotheism) and Christian works (good deeds that flow from salvation).
