I picked this up a while ago, knowing nothing about the subject (the middle ages and Renaissance) for a pet project where I trace the origins of political ecology from the Renaissance to Hegel, to Marx, to gramsci, with this being the first book.

Thoughts so far: several inaccuracies I've noticed being only a cursory reader of history. weird editorial voice by the author implying mideval people are idiots, bad start
