I feel like I am jumping between books. Which is not bad necessarily but rn focusing only on Marius and Akasha

I love Gabrielle's character. Armand doesn't seem so ethereal anymore and I truly hope Marius is decent.
Lestat has a little bit of Main Character Syndrome, but he's also a much more interesting character than he was ever portraid.

Also Anne Rice is a total fujoshi and nobody talks about it!? what's up with that!?

I wish she would spend more time describing the world though. The pacing is very char centric.

Didn't really enjoy the encounter with Armand and his little army of ghouls. I don't get the point. But Armand's description is beautiful and not an Antonio Banderas. I have no idea why they would portray this character like that in the movie

The fact that Lestat's death reminds me so much of the latest Nosferatu interpretation is just *chefs kiss*

Just wanted to add by saying that, the first chapter was pretty awful, right out of "My Immortal" (if you know you know) It felt like a first draft of her idea for Lestat and the type of character sheet we once did (as teens), it's super incongruent with his (small) development in the 1st book.

Pretty disappointing for what I've always imagined Anne Rice to be.
But curiosity still drives me. It might get better.

Although I've had my fair share of Vampire readings in teenage hood and loved the inspired movies, surprisingly, I had not read Anne Rice.

I've decided as well to react "live" as I go on with these readings because it was an incredibly fun thing to do back then. My personal reading timeline. And, unlike blsky, live reactions it will be recorded under the book activity itself.

Due to finding out about an internet cult of the vampire chronicles, back in the 90s/2000's, I decided to revisit the type of books my teenage self would have read.

Anne Rice was always acclaimed as the pioneer of the humanized/romanticized version of vampires, but I'm finding out, first hand, how similar her writing is to a teens fan fiction of their own Oc's, which is interesting and boring and confusing.
