I thought I was in for another comedic and swashbuckling journey of a precocious 19th century boy in the antebellum South. Twain has outdone himself, while equally as fun and humorous as the original, AOHF has given me invaluable insight into the world of runaway slaves, abusive fathers, massacring family feuds, false King’s, show business, and the human determination to reach freedom. I’m only halfway through.

We really used to let kids do anything they wanted. They took risks, got hurt and failed. Thus shaping them into mature and wise adults. We’ve lost a lot of that truth nowadays.
