I'm surprised by how sincere Socrates seems to me this time around after finding him tricky and mischievous in years past.

CRITO: Socrates believed escaping from jail/punishment would invalidate his pursuit of wisdom. If he had wanted to flee Athens and her power over him, he should have done it before she condemned him.

APOLOGY: "...a man who is good for anything ought not to calculate the chance of living or dying; he ought only to consider whether in doing anything he is doing right or wrong – acting the part of a good man or of a bad."

EUTHYPHRO (On Holiness) : Is something good because God loves it, or does God love something because it's good?
