The end of chapter 18 was a twist I never saw coming!

Chapter 18: “What do you do to cope?”

“My best.”

Chapter 15: The ending of this chapter was HARD. It left me pondering the questions they asked.

Chapter 13: “I don’t seek war - I seek peace and forever will. But sometimes seeking peace means that soldiers must pick up their weapons and fight. That is the price of freedom. That is the price you are paying so that I can miss you from my warm bed. And both my bed and I thank you Wesley.”

Chapter 11: “Although he won’t drink our tea - says he tried it back home and didn’t care for it. Says it was ‘iced.’” Goff’s contempt nearly popped his own gasket. “Iced tea?! That’s barbaric! Why would the yanks put ice in their tea?!” This book makes me chuckle!
I am also impressed at the research Ms. Wright did on bombs. This chapter was also very heartwarming with one of the characters

Chapter 8: “You said that the war makes it hard to know what to say - but it should be the opposite. War with its constant threat of death gives us permission to share things we normally wouldn’t. War fosters valor in matters besides killing.”

I LOVE this book.

Chapter 7: “To stop trying is to stop living.”

This book is AMAZING. I want to get my own copy and underline so many phrases.

Chapter 3: “But in the WVS, shed found her answer. She had created a coalition to help others. And thereby discovered, or rather, remembered, that service is a salve that can heal all hurt, not just in strangers, but in oneself.”
