Not a lot of movement on this one but a little. I mostly focused on TENTH OF DECEMBER today. It’s definitely got a bit of that academic obtuseness that can frustrate but it’s not as heavy with it as other books I’ve read. Still, I can see how others might be irritated by it. I don’t think it’s bothering me that much. I’m mostly still supportive.

I just recently found out this exists and bought it online. It’s brief but I’m enjoying it quite a bit so far. One aspect of the book’s argument, that TMBG’s music is “play”, puts me in mind of Richard Powers’ PLAYGROUND. I love the serious appreciation/evaluation of the band and what their music does, why it is so compelling. It’s a little academic, but not overly so. I’m into it.
