Chapter 26: 4:38:30 - So the worm is "defeated" and everything seems to end well, Connor and Meilin seem to realize their feelings, or something along those lines, Zareef is dead. Yeah, right. There are four books left, so the worm isn't dead, but we shall see.

Chapter 23: 4:00:30 - "He had given his life trying to win her forgiveness. If she had only told him before how she felt. What he meant to her. He might still be alive." Wait what? What do you mean "what he meant to her"? But I suppose that's one way to a love triangle or whatever that was.

But on an uncynical note, how did Shane lose when he literally stopped the charge of a Great Beast a couple of books ago?

Chapter 23: 3:59:00 - How can that be the same red cloak (Shane) who stopped the charge of a Great Beast like it was nothing?

Chapter 21 - 03:30:40: "Shane's astonished smile at this meager praise sent a tremor of guilt through Rebecca's chest. He looked like she had just kissed him on the cheek." WHAT?

Chapter 13 - 02:08:40 - Oh damn. So many things have happened. We've learned that the red cloaks are just past people who took the bile and merged with their spirit animals.

Kovo was trying to save the world, maybe, by controlling the evertree. Zareef is attacking the red cloak's hideout after they communicate with Meilin underneath. Connor is now gone, at least for now.

So that's how the red cloaks are so strong. Instead of simply using the spirit animal, they do some type of fusion with the spiral animal, allowing them to use their power directly through their body.
