I listened to this one while I packed my classroom away for the summer. As always, I love Nory and her friends. I liked the change of setting, a dragon conservatory, and the addition of another school’s students and the twice talented. At first I was wary of the reconciliation plot with Nory’s dad, but I ended up liking it.

They explored accepting our parents where they are while acknowledging we need more and knowing they cannot always meet us there. I’m curious to see how her relationship to her family continues to progress. I didn’t enjoy Andres’ perspective as much, but I think his story could be relatable for lots of MG readers - loneliness, rejection, longing for acknowledgement and acceptance, and maintaining friendship.
